The Open World Program offers a unique opportunity for your community to design and host a six- to eight- day professional and cultural program for a delegation of emerging leaders from Eurasia. The program forges international understanding by bringing Americans and visiting delegates together under everyday circumstances, and creates the opportunity for a lasting connection to be made between your community and the communities of your guests.

Why Participate in the Open World Program?

Designing a week-long program for a delegation can be a challenging task, but taking part in the Open World Program offers many rewards to local hosting communities.

• Delegates participate in an orientation program in both their home country and in Washington D.C. before they arrive in local communities. Visas, as well as international and domestic travel are covered by the Open World Program and administered by American Councils.
• Local hosting communities receive extensive support from both the Academy for Educational Development and American Councils, before, during, and following their hosting period.
• Local hosting communities are paid an administrative fee for each delegation hosted, and are reimbursed for direct program expenses up to a set limit.
• The program generates intangible benefits through the personal connections and international understanding it promotes.
